Due to staff holodaays we will be closed on Monday 11th, Wednesday 13th and Wednesday 20th March. We will be open all other days Mon - Fri 9.00am to 5pm as normal when we look forward to helping you
Exciting News:
We're very excited to announce the arrival of our new RevoFC OCT. This is a significant investment and gives us the latest technology in retinal imaging. OCT scanning gives us the most detailed view of the different layers within the retina and optic nerve making it easier to detect problems and in some cases years ahead of other tests. The OCT scan is included as standard with all private sight tests and is offered to all NHS patients at a upgrade fee of only £20
Reminder Letters
We are open for business as normal for both routine and urgent appointments. Unfortunately due to high demand for appointments we are not currently able to send out routine reminder letters. We hope to get back to sending reminders in the future but in the meantime if you would like to be seen for any reason then please just get in contact with the practice to book an appointment.
About Us
Roberts and Polson have been serving the community of Flint since 1995. We are the only independent optician in Flint and can be found situated on Church St in the centre of town. We offer a friendly professional service and like to spend time to get to know our patients.

Routine Eye Examinations
We pride ourselves on our eye examinations. We give you the time you need to help us give you the best eye care we can. We offer both NHS and private routine appointments.
Urgent Eye Care
We provide urgent eyecare as accredited providers of the Wales Eye Care Service (WECS)
Spectacles
We carry a wide range of frames to suit all budgets from complete spectacles covered by the NHS voucher scheme to designer frames.
More importantly we take the time to help choose a frame that fits well and looks good on you

Our Team
Gordon Elliott
Optometrist
Gordon studied at the University of Wales, Cardiff, graduating in 2000 with a First Class BSc (Hons).
Gordon joined the practice in March 2021, taking over the reins when the previous owner and optometrist Steve Cook retired after 26 years of serving the community of Flint.
Gordon has a wealth of experience as an optometrist, having worked in high street optometry practices, as well as within Warrington Hospital Optometry Department, where he was employed as a Senior Optometrist, on a sessional basis. His experience has given him exposure to a wide array of eye conditions. In 2002 Gordon spent 6 months working in Belize in the Belize Council for the Visually Impaired.
Sue Polson
Practice manager
Sue's friendly face will probably be the first person you see on entering the practice. Sue first joined the practice way back in 1995 and has been enoying welcoming both old and new patients back to the practice ever since.
Sue has a real passion for helping patients find eyewear that makes them look good and feel good. Sue makes sure things keep running smoothly and manages the day to day running of the practice.
Away from work you might well find Sue exploring the nearby hills and mountains or enjoying a night at the theatre.
Paul Rowlands
Optometrist
Paul studied at City University London, qualifying in 1981. If you have an eye examination on a Thursday it will more than likely be Paul you will be seeing.
Paul joined the practice in 2020 and brings with him a wealth of experience from working in both large multiple and smaller independent practices.
Over the years Paul has spent several months volunteering in both India and Kingston Jamaica.
Claire Blackwell
Receptionist
Another familiar face within the practice and often that friendly voice at the end of the phone. Claire is an essential ingredient to the warm family atmosphere we hope you find at Roberts and Polson.
Claire joined the practice in September 2000 and has been an integral part of the team ever since. Claires organisational skills keep us all in check and help us run a smooth operation.
When she's not at work Claire is most likely enjoying time with her husband of 30 years or one of their two children.

I was helped MOST professionally and extremely quickly by Gordon Elliott. He was able to source a replacement for the complex contact lens I had lost, made sure it was still the right fit, checked both my eyes thoroughly and provided me with an up-to-date prescription, all within three days of first contact. I had tried several other specialist places before, none of which were able to help on the short time-scale required. Extremely pleased with the service! And very reasonably priced too :-)
